The Prodigals
The Prodigals bring a traditional sensibility to the bass and drum driven sound of Celtic rock. The band consists of Gregory Grene, (button accordion, vocals) Eamon O’Tuama (guitar, vocals) Ed Kollar (Bass) and Eamon Ellams (drums). It is the sound of Greg Grene on accordion that gives them their unique sound. Many Celtic rock bands (including the Pogues) feature accordion, but this is the piano accordion. But it Greg’s ability to make the button accordion, familiar to fans of traditional music, rock that sets them apart. He is also the writer of much of the bands original material, although, guitarist, Eamon is also a contributor. The hard driving rhythm section keeps the band on the rock and roll road.
