LIAM CLANCYYes...Those Were The Days Liam, the youngest of the Clancy Brothers, who later toured as a duo with Tommy Makem has a long history of brilliant musical performances to draw on for this album. There are two tracks from the Clancy Brothers era, Wild Mountain Thyme, The Wild Rover and We've Come a Long Way with Tommy Makem. Like all The Clancy Brothers, Liam has a theatrical background, and is known for his sensitive phrasing of a lyric. This can be seen on The Dutchman and The Streets of London. His empathy with the less fortunate enhances the compassionate lyrics of these songs. His impassioned performance of the anti-war classic, The Band Play Waltzing Matilda, is matched by his brilliant singing on The Patriot Game. Liam is also known for his songs of the sea, notably on this album, The Mary Ellen Carter, The Irish Rover and The Shoals of Herring. An outstanding collection from a magnificent talent. | ||||||||||
